Building a community of readers and thinkers

ls.library.jpg

The mission of the library program at Springside School is to help build a community of readers and thinkers who are effective and responsible users of ideas and information. The student-centered library program begins in the Lower School where each girl's interest and ability in reading is promoted and reinforced.

In Middle School and Upper School, the girls are encouraged to continue developing a lifelong habit and love of reading, and the program expands to foster the independent critical-thinking and research skills that students need in order to interact effectively with information and to construct meaningful knowledge.

With the development of these skills, students can become independent, ethical, lifelong learners who can make responsible and productive contributions to Springside and to society as a whole.
